The Republican National Convention in Milwaukee next week could be an “attractive” target for violent extremists or other people looking to sow chaos by disrupting a high-profile political event, according to a threat assessment from federal agencies and the Milwaukee Police Department obtained by CNN. This election season has seen a “resurgence in disruptive tactics targeting election symbols” that are very likely meant to “instill fear and disrupt operations at election-related critical infrastructure facilities,” according to the assessment. The report was prepared by the FBI, US Secret Service, Department of Homeland Security, and Wisconsin state and city law enforcement officials. Homeland Security’s Office…
France was heading towards a hung parliament on Sunday and rocky talks to form a government after an unexpected leftwing victory thwarted Marine Le Pen’s efforts to bring the far right to power.Early projections by pollsters suggested a leftist coalition is on course to win the most seats in the high stakes snap election, a severe blow to Le Pen’s Rassemblement National party, which had seen a parliamentary majority within reach. The outcome, if confirmed, would represent a resounding success for the co-ordinated anti-RN strategy, under which the left and centre tactically withdrew their candidates from run-off ballots. But the result…
Overview Capstone Copper (OTCPK:CSCCF) is a copper mining company with almost all of its revenues coming from copper and very little production of other metals. This makes it rather unique in the market as a pure play copper producer. I covered the company earlier this year. That article can be found here. This is an Americas-focused company with producing operations in the U.S., Mexico, and Chile. Just over half of the production in 2024 is expected to come from Chile and that number is likely to increase further in the future. Figure 1 – Source: Capstone Presentation Capstone has over…

Starbucks ‘ new breakfast deals may hit the sweet spot for customers. But the coffee giant needs to serve up bigger changes to its operations to get back into Wall Street’s good graces. Offering food and beverage combos may boost Starbucks’ traffic in the short-term, analysts said, but it’s probably not a sustainable path over time given the company’s reputation as a premium coffee brand. The more substantial issues that are hurting sales, such as customer wait times, need to be resolved before declaring the company out of the woods after reporting a terrible quarter two months ago. “It’s execution.…

Our country has valued hard work from our founding as a nation. The Puritan work ethic shows itself everywhere. Most working people see “hard worker” as a desirable quality in themselves and others. We often define success by how much wealth we accumulate from all that hard work. What’s wrong with this picture? Back when our country was founded, life expectancy was much shorter. The work ethic we embraced then did not take into consideration that we may live for decades after we retire nowadays. There is a price to nonstop hard work. Pitfalls Of The Hard Work Ethic Whether…
