Source: unsplash.com April has been up and down and investors are struggling to keep up. Volatility in the market is on a high and this can prevent investors from making any reasonable decisions. Factors that influence a decision for investors can quickly change and investors have to start the process all over again. As the market starts to show some stability, investors are moving to make the most profitable decisions, especially for the long term. For Chainlink (LINK) and Cardano (ADA) investors, this is investing in a new token, Kelexo (KLXO) for its anticipated 20X returns. Our analysis determines trends in either…
Warren Buffett is worried about artificial intelligence. At his annual shareholder meeting in Omaha, Nebraska, the 93 year-old co-founder, chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway issued a stark warning about the potential dangers of the technology. “We let a genie out of the bottle when we developed nuclear weapons,” he said Saturday. “AI is somewhat similar — it’s part way out of the bottle.” The so-called Oracle of Omaha acknowledged to his audience that he has little idea about the tech behind AI, but said he still fears its potential repercussions. His image and voice were recently replicated by an…
Hamas said it told Egyptian and Qatari negotiators that it has approved a cease-fire proposal to halt the war in Gaza.Israel is examining the proposal that Hamas approved and has not confirmed whether it would accept or reject it, an Israeli official told NBC News.”We are exploring every single thing that we hear and we are exhausting the potential about negotiations and bringing back the hostages and that is our main mission to bring them home as quickly as possible,” Israel Defense Forces Officer Daniel Hagari said at a press briefing following Hamas’ announcement. “But in parallel, we are continuing…
OMAHA, Nebraska — Many Berkshire Hathaway shareholders left last weekend’s annual meeting pondering Warren Buffett’s big revelation about succession. The Oracle of Omaha on Saturday told an arena full of shareholders that his designated successor Greg Abel will have the final say on all of Berkshire’s investment decisions when Buffett is no longer at the helm. “I would leave the capital allocation to Greg … he understands businesses extremely well,” Buffett said. “If you understand businesses, you’ll understand common stocks.” That single comment sparked a lot of conversation among Buffett’s loyal followers. Some interpreted it to mean that Abel, vice chairman of non-insurance operations,…
Mortgage rates pushed further into the 7% range as the Federal Reserve seems unlikely to reverse its restrictive policy stance anytime soon, according to Freddie Mac. The average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage was 7.22% for the week ending May 2, according to Freddie Mac’s latest Primary Mortgage Market Survey. That’s an increase from the previous week when it averaged 7.17%. A year ago, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.39%. The average rate for a 15-year mortgage was 6.47%, up from 6.44% last week and up from 5.76% last year. On Wednesday, the Fed announced it would maintain the federal funds rate at 5.25% to 5.5%,…
Sunk cost, opportunity cost, and the endowment effect. You may expect these textbook-weight words to show up in the classroom. You may even imagine how understanding these concepts could help better explain corporate, institutional, or public policy matters—or at least your investment portfolio. But it’s harder to imagine utilizing them to make better decisions in everyday life. Yet that is where activating an understanding of these and other theoretical models can have the biggest impact: in our lives. I look forward to the third weekend in April every year, when a fantastic music, food, and drink festival is held in…
House Speaker Mike Johnson is expected to confront a vote over his ouster in the coming days, a pivotal moment that presents a major leadership test for the Louisiana Republican even though he is expected to prevail. House Democratic leaders have said that Democrats will vote to kill the effort led by GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, effectively ensuring Johnson won’t lose his job. A failed vote will give Johnson an opportunity to argue that it is time to move on from the issue. But support from Democrats will open Johnson up to even more criticism from his right…

For many years, the price of cocoa drifted in a relatively well-defined range. As late as 2020, I wrote about trading that range from my perspective as a cocoa permabull. Unfortunately, liquidity in the iPath® Bloomberg Cocoa Subindex Total Return(SM) ETN (NIB) dried up over time, and NIB was finally delisted in June 2023. The loss of the best vehicle for retail investors to participate in cocoa trading coincided with a with strong rally in cocoa. The very next month, the price of cocoa broke out and proceeded to quadruple in a stunning run-up. The weekly chart below of the…
