During his “My Take,” Tuesday, “Varney & Co.” host Stuart Varney reacted to Biden’s pledge to make community college tuition-free, warning the president’s plan is part of a “political strategy” to win votes for the 2024 election. STUART VARNEY: Joe Biden is the giveaway president. He’s giving away your money. He’s giving away our country. He hopes that, in return, he gets your vote. BIDEN PLEDGES TUITION-FREE COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOR ALL The latest is community college. He wants to give that away, too. JOE BIDEN: “I also want to make, and I’ve been pushing this, and if I’m re-elected, I’m going…

The target price represents a 25% premium to where shares traded when the research coverage was initiated. The analyst added, “While Google (NASDAQ:) and other large companies with significant resources and strong balance sheets could ultimately increase competition within the language learning space, Duolingo’s gamification/socialization capabilities, personalization, and deep data moat, proven teaching efficacy, and strong brand are key differentiating factors.” After the initial pop the shares…
Many people know how Federal Reserve policies influence the economy and investment markets, but they don’t realize how interest rate moves change the results of estate planning strategies. The Federal Reserve increased rates significantly in 2022 and 2023, and recently market rates spikes again. The significant increases in rates the last few years alter the advantages of different tax strategies. When interest rates rise, the payoffs of some strategies increase while other strategies lose some of their appeal. After a significant change in yields, review some strategies that you might have rejected a couple of years ago and consider stopping…
SHANGHAI/SINGAPORE (Reuters) -China’s central bank left a key policy rate unchanged while withdrawing cash from a medium-term policy loan operation on Friday, as authorities continued to prioritise currency stability amid uncertainty over the timing of expected Federal Reserve interest rate cuts. The Fed’s historic monetary tightening has bolstered the dollar and pressured the yuan over the past few years. Cutting rates before a move by the Fed or other major central banks would widen yield differentials, potentially putting more pressure on the local currency. The People’s Bank of China (PBOC) said it was keeping the rate on 387 billion yuan…

The iShares MSCI South Africa ETF (NYSEARCA:EZA) tracks the MSCI South Africa 25/50 Index, targeting the performance of major large and mid-cap South African equities. With $300 million in assets under management, EZA is the largest of a handful of ETFs focused on exposure to Africa. EZA offers value in terms of earnings and price to book ratios, but a very dour economic reality makes a South African play something I would avoid for now. Dispiriting economic backdrop South Africa’s economic landscape remains challenged under President Cyril Ramaphosa’s administration. The official unemployment rate as Q4 2023 was hovers around 33%.…
