Every modern commercial real estate transaction, or other business transaction, takes place largely through email. If it’s a major or complicated transaction, it will involve dozens of email recipients and senders – business people, lawyers, brokers, title companies, other service providers, and so on. Each email will beget a stream of additional emails as each recipient replies, adds a little something to the discussion, and then sends their response to everyone. These days, many seem to be critical of what they perceive as excess wealth. As I discussed in “More Self-Control Leads to Wiser Spending, Not Less Spending,” there is value in being careful with your purchases, even when you have enough in savings you could afford to be foolish. All our life is an adventure lived one day at a time. We can’t anticipate everything ahead of time, but excess savings is one way to plan for an unknown future. In our family, when we experience a financial shock, we often say to one another, “I’m happy that this is…

Whether expected or not, the upheaval of job loss gives you much to think about. Don’t forget any stock options or restricted stock units (RSUs) that you were granted and are still available to you. The danger is real. Sudden layoffs have recently erupted at many companies, including corporate tech giants such as Amazon, Google, Meta, and Microsoft. You want to be sure you take as much extra compensation for the road…

There is no denying that the Biden Administration is pro working families. Take the Infrastructure Act which focuses on onshoring — bringing and keeping jobs in the United States. Take another look at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), which is taking a pro-worker leap by exposing non-compete clauses — clauses which prevent millions of workers from taking a job with higher pay from a similar employer to the one they have now. Corporations use other sources of power to underpay and disempower workers, so the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FTC are consulting with worker representatives on the effect…

SAO PAULO (Reuters) -Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Thursday hinted that the government might change inflation targets, calling high lending costs “inexplicable” as he continued his push for lower interest rates. “If the inflation target is wrong, change the target,” the leftist leader said a meeting with journalists broadcast by TV channel GloboNews. By Saqib Iqbal Ahmed NEW YORK (Reuters) -The U.S. dollar fell to a 1-week low against the euro on Thursday as German inflation data helped lift the common currency and as concerns over the banking sector receded. It also helped secure…
